Hama, Mar.4 (SANA) Eight children were injured on Wednesday when a landmine, left behind by the ousted regime, exploded in the village of al-Ankawi in al-Ghab region of western Hama countryside.
Dr. Osama Al-Aboud, the surgical emergency supervisor at Hama National Hospital, told SANA that the hospital received six of the injured children, whose wounds ranged from moderate to serious, caused by shrapnel from the explosion in various parts of their bodies.
Dr. al-Aboud affirmed that the hospital’s medical and nursing staff provided the necessary medical care, treatment, and surgical interventions to the injured children. Two other injured children were transferred to al-Suqaylabiyah National Hospital.
Landmines and unexploded ordnance left behind by the ousted regime remain among the most significant challenges facing several areas in Syria, posing a serious threat to civilian lives as efforts to remove these mines and unexploded ordnance continue.
