Damascus, Feb. 24 (SANA) The Syrian General Establishment for Water in Damascus has brought a new drinking water project online in the al-Hajar al-Aswad district south of the capital, restoring water supply to the area for the first time in years.
The Establishment said in a statement that the project included rehabilitation of water infrastructure and was implemented with support from Médecins Sans Frontières (MSF).
According to the statement, the work involved restoring and equipping two water wells, rehabilitating an elevated reservoir to stabilize pumping, and installing a solar-power system to help ensure uninterrupted operation.
Officials said the initiative is part of broader government efforts to rebuild essential services in areas affected by years of war, as residents gradually return to their neighborhoods.
