Syria begins Basic Education examinations nationwide

Damascus, June 4 (SANA) More than 464,000 students across Syria began sitting for Basic Education examinations on Thursday at more than 2,000 examination centers nationwide for the annual testing period.

A total of 450,884 students are taking the Basic Education Certificate examinations, commonly known as the ninth-grade exams, while 13,141 students are sitting for the Sharia Preparatory Certificate examinations, according to official figures.

The examinations are being held at 2,053 examination centers distributed across Syria’s provinces.

Education authorities have completed administrative and logistical preparations to ensure the smooth conduct of the exams, including the provision of examination materials and the deployment of supervisory and monitoring teams at centers throughout the country.

The Basic Education Certificate examinations mark a key stage in Syria’s education system, determining students’ progression to secondary education and their future academic pathways.

Thousands of teachers, invigilators and administrative staff have been mobilized to oversee the examination process and ensure compliance with examination regulations.
