HAMA, Feb. 23 (SANA) Authorities in Hama have arrested four members of a criminal gang involved in theft and armed robbery, the Interior Ministry said on Sunday.
The individuals were detained during an operation by the Criminal Investigations Branch in Hama Governorate, which led to the dismantling of the group.
Security forces seized several weapons and ammunition, including handguns, a rocket-propelled grenade launcher, a machine gun and military equipment such as vests and a night-vision device, according to the ministry.
During questioning, they confessed to carrying out several carjackings in the Salamiyah area and to stealing mobile phones and cash, the ministry said. The men were transferred to judicial authorities for further investigation and legal proceedings.
The Ministry said efforts to combat theft and armed robbery would continue through increased patrols and expanded investigative measures.
