Damascus, Feb. 18 (SANA) Syria’s Deputy Minister of Emergency Management and Disaster Response, Ahmad Qziz, held talks with Vanessa Frazier, the United Nations Secretary-General’s Special Representative for Children and Armed Conflict and her accompanying delegation, on ways to strengthen national efforts to protect children from the dangers of unexploded ordnance and the effects of damaged infrastructure in conflict-affected areas.
During the meeting, Qziz underlined the government’s commitment to investing in the new generation and ensuring a safe future for children. He underscored Syria’s need to empower protection programmes, advance recovery efforts, and create a safe environment that guarantees children’s rights and a dignified life.
The talks are part of ongoing cooperation between Syria and international partners to improve child protection and promote community stability, particularly in areas still struggling with debris and war remnants that continue to pose risks and contribute to repeated displacement.
