Syria seeks to engage expatriate engineering talent in the country’s recovery

Damascus, Feb. 16 (SANA) Syria is stepping up efforts to engage Syrian engineers living abroad, particularly in Germany, as part of broader plans to support development and reconstruction projects, officials said Sunday.
The Transport Ministry, in cooperation with members of the Syrian community in Germany, organized a virtual meeting that brought together Transport Minister Yarub Badr and a group of Syrian engineers based in Germany.

According to the ministry, discussions focused on challenges facing Syria’s transport sector and potential strategies for modernization in line with current needs. Participants also explored ways engineers abroad could provide technical and technological expertise to support ongoing and future projects.

Officials highlighted the role of expatriate professionals in contributing to infrastructure development, saying closer coordination could help strengthen reconstruction efforts.

The meeting is part of a series of initiatives launched by the Transport Ministry aimed at enhancing communication with Syrian specialists overseas and encouraging their involvement in rebuilding key sectors of the economy.
