Syria and UNOPS discuss cooperation on transport projects

Damascus, Dec. 11 (SANA) Syrian Minister of Transport Yarub Badr met on Thursday with Warda Darafa, the representative of the United Nations Office for Project Services (UNOPS) in Syria, to discuss opportunities for joint cooperation in the transport and infrastructure sectors.

During the meeting, Minister Badr emphasized the importance of strengthening cooperation with UNOPS, particularly in the development of future projects, including bridges.

In response, the UNOPS representative expressed the organization’s readiness to enhance cooperation with the Ministry of Transport and support priority projects in the upcoming phase.

UNOPS has been operating in Syria for nearly a decade, overseeing projects aimed at rehabilitating damaged schools, health centers, and critical infrastructure.

Currently, the office is implementing the “Nexus” development project, which aims to bolster the capacity of local institutions to manage public services and infrastructure while preparing them to effectively contribute to Syria’s long-term reconstruction efforts.
