Islamabad, Feb. 12 (SANA) Syria and Pakistan discussed expanding cooperation in disaster management and early warning systems during an official visit by a Syrian delegation to Islamabad, Syria’s emergency ministry said Wednesday.

A delegation from Syria’s Ministry of Emergency and Disaster Management, headed by Deputy Minister Ahmed Qazziz, visited Pakistan’s National Disaster Management Authority (NDMA) to review flood risk management technologies, early warning systems and earthquake response mechanisms, according to a statement posted on the ministry’s Telegram channel.

The talks also covered climate change response plans and potential training programs for Syrian personnel aimed at strengthening preparedness and improving risk management, the ministry said.

The Syrian delegation was briefed on Pakistan’s national standards, policies and procedures in disaster management, as well as existing cooperation frameworks with United Nations and international organizations.

The visit is part of broader efforts to enhance technical cooperation between Syria and Pakistan and to draw on Pakistan’s experience in managing natural disasters, particularly floods and earthquakes, the statement said.
