Damascus, Nov. 3 (SANA) Syrian Deputy Minister of Higher Education and Scientific Research Abdul Hamid al-Khaled participated Tuesday in a panel discussion titled “Higher Education in Syria’s Transition Path” at Humboldt University of Berlin.
The event, organized by the “A New Beginning for Syria” BMZ platform (Plattform Neuanfang Syrien), in collaboration with the Berlin Institute for Empirical Integration and Migration Research (BIM), the German Jordanian University (GJU) and the German Academic Exchange Service (DAAD), brought together Syrian diplomats, German government officials, and academic researchers to outline reform priorities for Syria’s higher education system.
Discussions centered on developing joint academic and research initiatives between Syrian and German universities, while exploring the role of Syrian academic talent abroad in rebuilding the national higher education sector.

Attendees included Syria’s Chargé d’Affaires in Berlin Mohammad Baraa Shukri, representatives from the German Federal Foreign Office and the Ministry for Economic Cooperation and Development, along with researchers and institution leaders.
The symposium followed earlier separate meetings between al-Khaled, representatives from the German Ministry for Economic Cooperation and Development, and members of the Bundestag focused on expanding vocational training and research exchanges.
