Damascus, Feb. 8 (SANA) – The head of the Syrian Civil Aviation and Air Transport Authority, Omar al-Hosari, said the takeover of Qamishli Airport in Hasakah province represents a pivotal sovereign and developmental step that reconnects the Jazira region to the national aviation system.
In a statement, al-Hosari said unifying airport and airspace management under a single institutional framework will enhance aviation safety and support economic and service development. He noted that senior aviation officials and security representatives arrived at the airport to begin procedures for its handover and eventual operation under the terms of the agreement with the Syrian Democratic Forces (SDF).
