Damascus, Feb.1 (SANA) An investigation conducted by the Central Commission for Inspection and Control has uncovered financial corruption exceeding one billion Syrian pounds at one of the branches of the General Printing Corporation.
According to a statement published by the body on Sunday, the investigation results revealed financial embezzlement amounting to 1,070,460,600 Syrian pounds, resulting from a shortfall in amounts due for collection and discrepancies in the recorded value of stored materials held by a number of warehouse custodians at the branch in question.
The investigations also uncovered administrative violations, including a “failure to comply with the laws governing the registration and documentation of administrative records and their outputs.”
The body has taken the necessary legal measures, including the seizure of movable and immovable assets and the imposition of travel bans, to ensure the recovery of the embezzled funds. It also addressed a formal letter to the Ministry of Education, requesting the termination of the branch director’s assignment.
