Quneitra, Feb. 1 (SANA) Israeli occupation forces advanced into the southern countryside of Quneitra province on Sunday in a new violation of the 1974 Disengagement Agreement, according to SANA correspondents.
SANA’s reporter said an Israeli unit made up of two Humvee military vehicles moved toward the al-Mantara Dam area, passing through the village of al-Ajraf and reaching al-Samdaniyah al-Sharqiyah, where it set up a temporary checkpoint and searched several homes without recording any arrests.
The correspondent added that Israeli forces carried out similar incursions a day earlier in multiple areas of the southern countryside, during which random gunfire was directed at uninhabited farmland west of the village of Sayda al-Hanout, in what residents described as an attempt to intimidate shepherds and local communities. No injuries were reported.
Israel has continued its actions in southern Syria through repeated incursions, raids, arrests and land clearing, moves Syrian officials describe as blatant violations of sovereignty and international law.
Syria has renewed its demand for the withdrawal of Israeli occupation forces from its territory, stressing that all measures taken in the south are null and void and have no legal effect under international law. Damascus has called on the international community to shoulder its responsibilities, deter such practices and compel a full withdrawal from Syrian land.
