Berlin, April 28 (SANA) Economy and Industry Minister Nidal al‑Shaar held two high‑level meetings in Berlin on Monday with German officials to advance economic and industrial cooperation between Syria and Germany.
In the first meeting, al‑Shaar met State Minister at the Federal Chancellery Britta Ernst, focusing on ways to strengthen economic and industrial ties between the two countries.

The talks reviewed existing links in trade, investment, and technology‑transfer mechanisms and discussed avenues for expanding collaboration in productive sectors, with an emphasis on supporting Syrian‑owned industries and integrating them into regional and European value chains. The session was attended by Mohammad Baraa Shukri, chargé d’affaires at the Syrian Embassy in Berlin.
Shortly afterward, al‑Shaar held a separate meeting with Federal Chancellor’s Foreign Policy Advisor Günter Sauter, in which the two sides discussed the broader framework for developing bilateral cooperation. The minister underlined the importance of rebuilding trust and restoring practical cooperation across economic, industrial, and scientific sectors, stressing that sustained dialogue and joint projects are key to helping Syria recover from years of conflict and reconnect with European markets.
Both meetings reflected a shared interest in gradually normalizing and upgrading Syria‑Germany economic ties, within the limits of current international frameworks, by encouraging technical cooperation, investment‑friendly conditions, and long‑term joint initiatives in industry and innovation.
