Lattakia, Jan. 26 (SANA) — Syria’s Narcotics Directorate has seized a large shipment of liquid cocaine at Lattakia port, originating from Brazil and hidden inside vegetable oil containers, in a sophisticated attempt to smuggle the drugs to a neighboring country.
The Ministry of Interior said in a statement Monday that the operation “was based on precise and reliable intelligence, followed by careful field monitoring, which led to the complete seizure of the shipment before it left the port.”
The ministry added that the confiscated narcotics have been secured, while specialized security teams continue investigating the case to identify all those involved, in preparation for taking deterrent legal measures in accordance with national and international laws.
Officials highlighted that the operation reflects ongoing efforts by the Narcotics Directorate to combat drug trafficking networks, protect public security, and prevent illicit substances from entering local and international markets.
