Syria discusses al-Hol Camp, Raqqa and Hasakah prisons with Red Cross
Syria’s Interior Minister Anas Khattab met with a delegation from (ICRC)

Damascus, Jan. 26 (SANA) Syria’s Interior Minister Anas Khattab met with a delegation from the International Committee of the Red Cross (ICRC) on Monday to review conditions at al-Hol Camp in Hasakah and security prisons recently taken over from the SDF organization in Raqqa and Hasakah provinces.

The ministry said the meeting focused on challenges in managing the facilities, the level of services provided, and current needs on the ground. Officials also discussed mechanisms for coordination between the ministry and the ICRC to ensure humanitarian work complies with legal frameworks while responding to field realities.

Earlier, Syrian internal security forces restored order at al-Hol Camp after the SDF withdrew, leaving the area unguarded. The deployment followed a securing operation by the Syrian Arab Army to prevent chaos and mass escapes.

On Jan. 23, the Interior Ministry took control of al-Aqtan Prison in Raqqa, formerly under SDF control. Authorities immediately carried out comprehensive checks on prisoners’ conditions and legal files to ensure proper legal procedures. Dozens of detainees under 18 were later released.
