Damascus, Jan. 17 (SANA) The Syrian Army Operations Command announced that it is closely monitoring the field situation following the SDF organization leader’s declaration of withdrawing forces from west of the Euphrates River.
“Our forces are ready to enter the area to restore stability, reassert the sovereignty of the Syrian Arab Republic, pave the way for residents to return to their homes, and begin the resumption of state institutions’ role,” the Operations Command said in a statement to SANA on Saturday.
The Operations Command added: “We are monitoring the implementation of the announced SDF organization decision and are prepared for all scenarios,” noting that the SDF will not be targeted during its withdrawal.
Meanwhile, the Media and Communications Directorate at the Ministry of Defense stated to SANA that the withdrawal of SDF organization forces from west of the Euphrates would begin on Saturday morning, after which Syrian Arab Army units would start entering the area.
The Directorate denied reports circulating about Syrian Army forces already beginning to enter the Deir Hafer area.
The Syrian Ministry of Defense had earlier welcomed the decision of the SDF to withdraw from contact lines west of the Euphrates, affirming that it would closely monitor the full implementation of the withdrawal with all equipment and personnel to the east of the river.
