Damascus, May 5 (SANA) Syria has reopened 2,236 schools across its eastern regions within 100 days, bringing more than 500,000 students back to classrooms, Education Minister Mohammad Abdulrahman Turko said Tuesday in remarks.
Turko said the region faces major challenges after years of disrupted schooling, teacher shortages and damaged infrastructure, referring to the impact of the previous period. He added that nearly 38,000 teachers and administrative staff have returned to the education system, alongside the reopening of 42 education complexes.

The ministry has launched an emergency plan to rehabilitate school infrastructure, expand access to education and address learning loss through teacher training and remedial summer programs.
The campaign, launched in February, targets Raqqa, Deir ez-Zor and Hasakah, as well as parts of the Aleppo countryside, as part of broader efforts to restore public services in previously affected areas.
