Press conference in Aleppo on recent developments

Aleppo, Jan. 10 (SANA) Aleppo Governor Azzam al-Gharib held a press conference on Saturday, with the participation of Information Minister Hamza al-Mustafa and Minister of Social Affairs and Labor Hind Kabawat, to discuss the latest developments in the city.

The governor confirmed that the SDF organization had not adhered to the April 1st agreement regarding its withdrawal from the Sheikh Maqsoud and Ashrafieh neighborhoods, and had used them as launching points for repeated attacks on army and internal security positions and neighboring areas. These attacks resulted in the deaths of six civilians and injuries to more than seventy, most of whom were women and children.

He added that these attacks prompted the Syrian Arab Army to take measures to restore security, and that state institutions began entering the neighborhoods immediately after the completion of clearing operations to provide services.

Al-Gharib noted that 155,000 displaced people from the Ashrafieh and Sheikh Maqsoud neighborhoods had been received, and that a central committee comprising the Ministries of Health, Social Affairs and Labor, and International Cooperation had been formed to secure the needs of the residents.

Information Minister stated that Aleppo, the country’s economic capital, had been under daily threat from the SDF, emphasizing that the national media had covered the events professionally and objectively.

The Minister of Social Affairs and Labor clarified that the ministry is working to provide for the needs of displaced people in shelters in cooperation with civil society and local organizations.
