Aleppo, Jan. 8 (SANA) The Ministry of Emergency and Disaster Management announced Thursday that the SDF organization, positioned in Sheikh Maqsoud and Ashrafieh neighborhoods of Aleppo, targeted a Syrian Civil Defense ambulance with sniper fire.
The ambulance, clearly marked with humanitarian emblems, was near one of the civilian evacuation and crossing points when the attack occurred, resulting in minor injuries to a female paramedic.
The Ministry emphasized that targeting Civil Defense teams constitutes a serious crime and a flagrant violation of international humanitarian law.
It noted that such attacks impede efforts to rescue civilians in dire need of assistance and prevent the delivery of life-saving humanitarian services.
Munir Al-Mohammad, Director of Aleppo Health Media, announced in a statement to SANA that the number of civilian casualties from the SDF organization’s targeting of the city’s neighborhoods has risen to 5 dead and 44 injured.
This attack comes at a time when government agencies, in coordination with the Syrian Arab Army, are working to open humanitarian corridors to ensure the safe exit of residents from the Sheikh Maqsoud and Al-Ashrafieh neighborhoods.
