Cairo, Dec. 22 (SANA) The Federation of Syrian Chambers of Commerce (FSCC) participated in the meetings of the 136th session of the Council of the Union of Arab Chambers, which concluded in the Egyptian capital, Cairo.

The participation came within the framework of strengthening Arab economic cooperation, consolidating Syria’s presence on the regional economic stage, and activating the role of the private sector in building partnerships and supporting reconstruction efforts. The meetings also reviewed issues listed on the council’s agenda aimed at deepening Arab economic integration.

FSCC President Alaa al-Ali told SANA that the federation’s participation in the 136th session reflects its commitment to developing joint Arab economic cooperation and reinforcing Syria’s economic presence.

“The federation is keen to activate the role of the Syrian private sector in opening up to Arab and international partnerships in a way that serves the reconstruction process,” al-Ali said.
He added that the meetings provided an opportunity to strengthen communication with Arab federations and chambers and to follow up on agenda items that contribute to supporting the path of Arab economic integration.

On the sidelines of the session, al-Ali held talks with Sameer Abdulla Nass, chairman of the Bahrain Chamber of Commerce and Industry, on mechanisms for opening partnerships between the business communities in Syria and Bahrain, in addition to discussing ways to support and develop trade and investment exchange between the two countries.
Both sides stressed the importance of enhancing cooperation between the chambers of commerce in Syria and Bahrain, in a manner that supports the private sector and boosts opportunities for joint economic growth.

The Union of Arab Chambers is a non-governmental Arab economic organization founded in 1951. It brings together chambers of commerce, industry and agriculture from across the Arab world, with the aim of enhancing trade and investment cooperation, representing the private sector at regional and international forums, supporting Arab economic integration and encouraging intra-Arab trade toward the establishment of a common Arab market.
