Deir Ezzor, Feb. 27 (SANA) – Three people were killed and another injured on Friday when a landmine left behind by the defunct regime exploded while they were travelling by car west of Deir Ezzor, local sources said.
The explosion occurred in the western desert area of the governorate, claiming three lives at the scene and injuring a fourth passenger.
Earlier this month, a similar incident left one civilian dead and another wounded after a landmine detonated near al-Aliyaniya village, south of Palmyra.
Landmines and unexploded ordnance left by the defunct regime remain among the most serious threats facing civilians in Syria’s desert regions, as authorities continue mine-clearance operations and efforts to secure affected areas.
