Al-Ghassaniyah village in Jisr al-Shughur, Idleb, hosted its first divine liturgy after 13 years of displacement. The service, held at the Latin Church with the participation of various Christian denominations, marked a symbolic step toward reviving the village’s social and religious life.

Father Khokaz Mesrob, the parish priest, told SANA that the celebration reflects values of coexistence, love, and cooperation among all residents. He stressed that Syria is united in its people, land, and leadership, and that any external interference or attempts at division are completely rejected.

For his part, Abdullah Mikhael, the village mukhtar, affirmed the importance of strengthening ties among residents and engaging collectively in reconstruction. He said the occasion is an opportunity to revive communal life and the authentic values that have long bound the village together.

Participants underscored the importance of safeguarding national unity and rejecting all forms of political or religious extremism. They affirmed that the duty of all citizens today is to defend Syria’s unity, its institutions, and its territory.

Al-Ghassaniyah village suffered extensive destruction of homes, churches, and infrastructure under the practices of the former regime. Residents began returning to their homes on 8 November this year, after 13 years of displacement.
