Osmani: Syria’s recognition of the Republic of Kosovo is a historic event

Kosovo President Vjosa Osmani described Syria’s recognition of the Republic of Kosovo as an independent and sovereign state as a “historic event,” expressing her gratitude to President Ahmad al-Sharaa for this initiative.

“With the support of His Royal Highness Crown Prince Mohammed bin Salman Al Saud, an agreement was reached today in Riyadh under which the Syrian Arab Republic recognizes the Republic of Kosovo.” Osmani stated Wednesady on her Facebook page.

Osmani added: “The peoples of Kosovo and Syria have endured and sacrificed greatly in their pursuit of freedom,” emphasizing that “this mutual recognition is not only about acknowledging state sovereignty but also about honoring the sacrifices of generations who fought to live freely.”

She also expressed her appreciation to the Saudi Crown Prince for facilitating this historic achievement between the two nations.

President Ahmad Al-Sharaa’s decision marks the third recognition of Kosovo this year, following Kenya in March and Sudan in April.

Osmani noted that with today’s announcement, the total number of countries recognizing Kosovo’s independence has risen to 120, affirming that “our republic is moving forward, and nothing can stop it.”
