Damascus, May.5 (SANA) Information Minister Hamza al-Mustafa said on Tuesday that al-Ikhbariah television had carved a noticeable impact on Syria’s media landscape within a year of its relaunch, despite operating with limited resources.
In a statement marking the first anniversary of the channel’s relaunch, al-Mustafa said shifts in audience habits and viewing patterns typically demand years, but al-Ikhbariah had managed to alter that trend in a short period.
“We are proud of this experience, with its few stumbles and significant achievements,” al-Mustafa said, adding that the channel had recorded nearly five billion views across its digital platforms despite what he described as the burden of a difficult institutional legacy.
He said the channel’s first anniversary was marked earlier on Tuesday in recognition of its editorial, managerial and institutional progress, adding that the broadcaster remained at an early stage of development and was expected to expand further.
Al-Ikhbariah resumed official broadcasting under a new visual identity on May 5, 2025, as part of broader efforts to rebuild Syria’s national media sector on competitive and professional foundations, away from the model associated with the deposed regime.
The channel has since focused on covering developments across Syria through what officials describe as a national editorial approach aimed at addressing the concerns of Syrians across the country.
