Over 4,000 Landmines Cleared in Palmyra, Says Defense Official

Engineering units of the Syrian Arab Army are continuing their efforts to clear landmines and unexploded ordnance left behind by the previous regime across various neighborhoods and key facilities in Palmyra, eastern Homs countryside.

Omar Abdul Karim Ismail, commander of one of the engineering regiments, told SANA that over 4,000 landmines of various types have been safely dismantled and removed so far.

Ismail emphasized that the operation is progressing rapidly, with the goal of making Palmyra completely safe for the return of residents and the restoration of normal life.
