Damascus, April 27 (SANA) Syrian authorities on Sunday denied reports circulating on social media that new entry measures require visitors from Maghreb countries to have a local “sponsor” to enter Syria.
Othman Hilal, director of the Immigration and Passports Department at the Interior Ministry, told SANA that such claims are “not true,” responding to what he described as inaccurate information shared by some websites and social media pages.
Hilal said policies related to entry and residency are issued exclusively by the competent authorities through official legal channels. He urged citizens and social media users to verify information and rely on official Interior Ministry sources, warning against the spread of unverified reports.
