Interior Ministry: No one will be allowed to exploit Syrian arena to harm Arab ties

The Syrian Interior Ministry pledged Friday that it will not allow any individual or group to exploit Syrian territory to undermine Arab relations, after a video circulated showing a man making offensive remarks against Saudi Arabia.

Ministry spokesperson Nour Eddin al-Baba said the clip, shared on some media outlets and social media platforms, is old and dates back more than seven months. He stressed that it reflects only its author and confirmed that legal action will be taken against him.

Al-Baba reaffirmed Syria’s rejection of any insult directed at Saudi Arabia or other brotherly and friendly states, highlighting Damascus’s appreciation for the longstanding ties between Syria and Saudi Arabia. He added that Syria is keen to further strengthen these relations in support of regional stability and joint Arab action.

“Freedom of expression or protest does not mean infringing on others or insulting them,” al-Baba said.

The spokesperson urged media outlets and citizens to be cautious when circulating news or videos, warning against disinformation attempts aimed at harming inter-Arab relations. He reiterated Syria’s commitment to safeguarding its security and stability in a way that contributes to regional security.
