Damascus Countryside (SANA) — The Syrian Ministry of Agriculture drew strong visitor interest at the Damascus International Fair, where its pavilion showcased a wide range of agricultural projects and products, from livestock and fisheries to seed varieties and rural women’s initiatives.
Saeed Ibrahim, director of agricultural economics and planning at the ministry, said the participation highlights the work of several affiliated bodies, including the Rural Women Directorate, the General Commission for Agricultural Scientific Research, the General Organization for Seed Multiplication, the Livestock and Fish Multiplication Department, and the Horse Directorate.
He noted that the exhibition provides an opportunity to engage with investors and delegations from participating countries. “We are in discussions with several companies on supporting rural women and promoting their projects, which produce high-quality goods meeting standard specifications,” Ibrahim said.
Dr. Rawaa al-Babili, an agricultural researcher, said the pavilion also reflects the efforts of Syrian specialists in developing fruit tree varieties adapted to local conditions and capable of withstanding climate change.
She added that the fair serves as a platform to strengthen partnerships with institutions and emphasize the role of scientific research in advancing sustainable agriculture and ensuring food security.
