Syria reconnects with the World at the 62nd Damascus International Fair

Damascus | August 26, 2025 – SANA

Tomorrow marks the launch of the 62nd edition of the Damascus International Fair, an event symbolizing Syria’s re-emergence on the global stage, with participation from more than 20 countries and over 800 local and international companies.

  • A New Phase for Syria

On December 8, 2025, Syria entered a new era of recovery and openness, following years of interruption and international isolation. This shift has paved the way for renewed cooperation with Arab and international partners through various agreements. In this spirit, Damascus is set to host a landmark event — the Damascus International Fair — serving as a forum for diplomatic, economic, and cultural exchange.

  • A Unique Event in Exceptional Timing

After years of absence from international arenas, Syria returns through the Damascus International Fair, which opens tomorrow as a vital gateway for economic and cultural revival. This year’s fair offers a platform to renew ties and foster agreements that may lead to future investments, supporting Syrians as they recover from the hardships of war.

  • Broad International Participation

Numerous friendly nations are set to take part in this major event. Participating countries include Saudi Arabia, Qatar, Turkey, Jordan, Egypt, Sudan, Belgium, South Africa, Libya, Algeria, Palestine, Abkhazia, Poland, the Czech Republic, Macedonia, Indonesia, and members of the European Chamber of Commerce, among others.

The fair features more than 800 companies — 225 foreign and 725 Arab and Syrian — reflecting a strong commercial interest in Syria’s reopening. The exhibition spans an impressive area of 95,000 square meters, offering space for various commercial, cultural, and artistic activities over a ten-day period, running from August 27 to September 5.

  • Economic Significance and Revival

The return of the Damascus International Fair marks a key milestone in Syria’s economic revival after a prolonged recession. According to Ezzedine Hawout, Director of Public Relations at the General Organization for Exhibitions and Foreign Markets, the fair will highlight Syrian products and strengthen global trade links with Syria.

“The gardens and water features are fully prepared, designed to reflect Syria’s heritage,” Hawout added, noting that surprise announcements are expected during the opening ceremony.

  • A Historic Fair, Renewed

The Damascus International Fair, first held in 1954, is among the oldest and most prestigious international exhibitions in the region. Like many national institutions, it experienced interruptions in recent years.

The fair experienced several years of interruptions.  Now, with Syria entering a new phase of recovery, the fair represents a powerful symbol of return and ambition.

Held under the slogan “Syria Welcomes the World,” the 2025 edition of the fair is expected to attract millions of visitors and facilitate numerous international investment agreements, reinforcing global interest in a revitalized Syria.
