Jumblatt welcomes Ceasefire Announcement in Sweida

Beirut, SANA- Former Progressive Socialist Party leader Walid Jumblatt welcomed Tuesday the Ceasefire in Sweida announced by Syrian Defense Minister Maj. Gen. Murhaf Abu Qasra.

‘’reaching a lasting solution within the framework of the state” is a necessity Jumblatt told Al-Arabi TV Channel in a phone call and called on “some parties in the governorate to stop incitement’’.

He explained that “outlaw groups in Sweida must hand over weapons to the state”, noting that Israel will not protect anyone but wants to fuel the fighting.

Earlier, Syrian Defense Minister, Maj. Gen. Murhaf Abu Qasra, announced a complete ceasefire in Sweida after an agreement with the city’s figures, pointing out that internal security forces will control the city, as soon as combing operations are completed.

Israeli warplanes carried out several strikes in Sweida area.
