EU Calls for Halt to Israeli Attacks on Syria

EU Calls for Halt to Israeli Attacks on Syria

Brussels, SANA – European Union Spokesman for Foreign Affairs and Security Policy Anouar El Anouni called on the Israeli occupation to halt immediately its attacks on Syria and respect its sovereignty and territorial integrity.
In a statement today carried by the Qatar News Agency, El Anouni said: “We urge Israel to halt immediately its strikes on Syrian territory, including on key institutions in Damascus, which endanger the lives of civilians and could threaten the transitional process in Syria the European Union condemns any violation of Syria’s independence, sovereignty, unity, and territorial integrity.”

He continued: “We also call on the Syrian transitional authorities to contain the escalation in Sweida south of the country.”

European Council President Antonio Costa expressed concern yesterday over the Israeli bombing of Damascus, stressing the need to respect Syria’s sovereignty and territorial integrity.
