Turkish Parliament condemns Israeli strikes in Syria

Ankara, SANA- The Turkish Parliament strongly condemned the Israeli attacks on Syria, reaffirming its support for the Syrian people and rejecting anything that threatens their security.

A memorandum signed by Turkish Parliament Speaker Numan Kurtulmuş, approved by the parliament during its session on Thursday that was reported by Anadolu Agency: “We condemn in the strongest terms the despicable Israeli attacks on Syria, especially the capital Damascus, and affirm our support for its territorial integrity and sovereignty. We reaffirm our solidarity with the friendly and brotherly Syrian people, who have suffered greatly for many years, and our opposition to anything that threatens their security.”

The memorandum also noted that peace and stability in Syria are essential to broader regional security, warning that any deterioration would only serve the interests of figures like Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu, “whose political survival depends on bloodshed and conflict.”

It noted that Israel’s violation of the UN Charter and the rules and principles of international law by encroaching on Syrian territorial integrity aims to divert attention from the genocide it is committing against the Palestinian people.

It called on the international community to raise its voice and take effective and decisive measures against the Israeli aggression, which deepens the regional crisis and threatens world peace, considering the international community’s silence and inaction as “unjustified” and that it “encourages Israel to continue its unlawful and reckless aggression.”
