Al-Riyadh newspaper: Restoring Syria’s Arab position is a necessity, not just a choice

Riyadh, SANA- The Saudi newspaper al-Riyadh affirmed the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia’s firm conviction that Syria’s restoration of its Arab status constitutes a necessity and not a chance, as Damascus, with its history and geographic and political depth, cannot remain outside the circle of Arab action or be left an open arena to foreign intervention.

The newspaper said in an article published Sunday: “Since President Ahmad al-Sharaa officially assumed his duties, Saudi-Syrian relations have witnessed a clear strategic shift. Saudi Arabia has interacted positively with the new Syrian state through messages of political and personal support, which demonstrates the Kingdom’s desire to rebuild trust with it and establish a different phase based on dialogue, understanding, and building a long-term partnership.”

It reviewed several areas of cooperation established with the new Syria, including security cooperation, the launch of a comprehensive plan to support the Syrian economy in cooperation with regional partners, and investment in vital sectors such as infrastructure, education, health, energy, and agriculture.
