Minister of Higher Education discusses developing Daraa university

Daraa, SANA- Minister of Higher Education and Scientific Research Marwan al-Halabi visited Daraa on Wednesday and discussed the educational environment at Daraa branch of Damascus University and ways to solve difficulties facing students, and the staff.

The meeting was attended by Daraa Governor Anwar Taha al-Zoubi and a number of university, college, and institute presidents.

The meeting addressed ways to develop the university environment and improve the services provided to students, especially with regard to infrastructure, providing cadres, and securing the requirements for theoretical and practical education.

The meeting dealt with the issue of returning the University of Damascus – Daraa branch from Daraa city to its main headquarters in al-Muzayrib town in the western countryside of Daraa, establishing an independent university in Daraa and opening new colleges.

Minister al-Halabi stressed that the visit comes within the ministry’s plan to directly monitor the educational situation in the provinces and see issues on the ground.
