Internal security in Tartous foils a plot to bomb-up a church

We received accurate intelligence information indicating that an outlaw group linked to remnants of the former regime has been monitoring the Maronite Church of St. Elias in the village of Al-Kharibat, in preparation for a terrorist act involving detonating explosive devices inside the church”, commander of the Internal Security Forces in Tartus, Colonel Abdel Aal Mohammed Abdel Aal said on Interior Ministry’s Telegram channel.

He added: “We carried out a security operation, which came after a precise and intensive monitoring and follow-up operation, which led to the arrest of two members of the cell.”

“During the operation, an explosive device was seized along with papers with threatening phrases and warnings to the residents of the area,” the officer said.
