Syrian, Qatari officials discuss housing, smart city cooperation

Doha, Dec. 15 (SANA) Minister of Public Works and Housing Mustafa Abdul Razzaq held meetings on Monday with senior Qatari officials and representatives of key public and private institutions to advance cooperation in housing, infrastructure, smart cities, and real estate development.

The meetings took place on the sidelines of the 42nd session of the Council of Arab Ministers of Housing and Construction, currently under way in Doha.

Abdul Razzaq met with Mohammed bin Abdulaziz al-Meer, president of Qatar’s Public Works Authority, along with members of both sides’ technical and administrative teams, where the discussions focused on prospects for joint cooperation in public works and infrastructure development.

During the talks, Abdul Razzaq voiced the Syrian Ministry’s interest in drawing on Qatar’s advanced expertise in the implementation and management of infrastructure projects, a move he said would support sector development and enhance planning and execution mechanisms in Syria.

The two sides also examined the possibility of exchanging technical expertise and establishing joint committees to develop practical frameworks for transferring Qatari know-how in project management and quality control, steps officials said would positively impact the execution of future projects.

The Syrian minister also visited Qatar’s Ministry of Social Development and Family, Lusail Smart City, and Qatari Diar Real Estate Company as part of his official engagements in Doha.

The Council of Arab Ministers of Housing and Construction, which opened Monday and is scheduled to conclude Wednesday, aims to strengthen Arab cooperation in housing, urban planning, and infrastructure, while promoting the exchange of successful experiences in modern and smart city development to support sustainable development and reconstruction efforts across the Arab region.
