Berlin, Oct. 9 (SANA) UEFA President Aleksander Ceferin said Thursday he would seek a final term in office, reversing his earlier decision not to stand for re-election.
Reuters reported that Ceferin announced his decision at a meeting in Berlin with the presidents and general secretaries of Europe’s 55 national football associations, saying he had accepted their request to continue leading European football’s governing body.
Ceferin confirmed that he would run for re-election at UEFA’s 51st Ordinary Congress, scheduled for April 22, 2027, in Astana, Kazakhstan.
He had previously said he would step down when his current term expires but has now decided to seek another mandate.
