Kuala Lumpur, Aug. 27 (SANA) Syria’s U17 national football team were drawn in Group C of the AFC U17 Asian Cup Uzbekistan 2027 Qualifiers alongside the United Arab Emirates, Bangladesh, Bhutan and Macau, China.
The United Arab Emirates will host the Group C matches from November 8 to 20, 2026.
The qualifiers feature 35 teams divided into seven groups, with matches played in a centralized single round-robin format. Only the winner of each group will advance to the AFC U17 Asian Cup Uzbekistan 2027 Finals.
The seven group winners will join nine teams already qualified as AFC representatives at the FIFA U-17 World Cup Qatar 2026: Australia, China PR, defending champions Japan, the Republic of Korea, Qatar, Saudi Arabia, Tajikistan, Uzbekistan and Vietnam.
Syria first qualified for the AFC U-17 Championship finals in 2002. The national team later reached the continental semi-finals in 2006 and 2014, performances that secured qualification for the FIFA U-17 World Cups in South Korea in 2007 and Chile in 2015.
