Algeria reach Women's Africa Cup of Nations semifinals, qualify for 2027 World Cup

Rabat, Aug. 9 (SANA) Algeria reached the Women’s Africa Cup of Nations semifinals for the first time and secured a place at the 2027 Women’s World Cup in Brazil after coming from behind to beat Ivory Coast 2-1 in Morocco on Saturday.

Ivory Coast took the lead through Ines Konan in the 29th minute, but Algeria fought back after the break, with Ines Khiri equalizing in the 58th minute before Amira Ould Braham struck six minutes later to complete the comeback.

The victory sent Algeria into Wednesday’s semifinal, where they will face the winner of Sunday’s quarterfinal between Malawi and Ghana at Al Madina Stadium in Rabat.

The result also secured Algeria’s first appearance at a Women’s World Cup.
