Washington, June 14 (SANA) Morocco held Brazil to a 1-1 draw on Saturday in the teams’ opening Group C match of the 2026 FIFA World Cup at MetLife Stadium in New Jersey.
Morocco took the lead in the 21st minute when Ismael Saibari finished a move created by Ibrahim Diaz after a strong start by the North African side.
The Atlas Lions created several additional scoring opportunities but were unable to extend their advantage.
Brazil responded by regaining control of possession and leveled the match in the 32nd minute through Vinicius Junior, who scored from inside the penalty area.
The draw leaves both teams with one point in Group C, which also includes Scotland and Haiti.
