Dublin, May 29 (SANA) Ireland defeated Qatar 1-0 in an international friendly on Thursday as the 2026 World Cup-bound Gulf nation continued its preparations for next year’s tournament.
Defender Nathan Collins scored the only goal of the match in the fourth minute at Dublin’s Aviva Stadium, giving the hosts an early lead, they held for the remainder of the game.
Both teams finished with 10 men. Ireland midfielder Jack Moylan was sent off shortly before halftime, while Qatar striker Almoez Ali received a red card in the 78th minute.
The match formed part of Qatar’s final preparations before traveling to the United States for the 2026 FIFA World Cup.
Qatar have been drawn in Group B alongside Switzerland, Canada and Bosnia and Herzegovina.
