Doha, March 16 (SANA) Spokesperson for Qatar’s Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Majed al-Ansari, said Iran must immediately stop its attacks in order to allow a diplomatic solution to the current crisis, noting that contacts are ongoing with various parties to ensure that the Strait of Hormuz remains open.
Responding to remarks by Iranian Foreign Minister Abbas Araghchi expressing Tehran’s readiness to form a joint investigative committee to determine the nature of the targets struck in Gulf countries, al-Ansari said the matter was straightforward.
In statements reported by Al Jazeera on Monday, al-Nasri said Iran should stop its attacks on countries that have not targeted Iranian territory, adding that the issue does not require a joint investigation committee.
Al-Ansari noted that Arab coordination continues on a daily basis to contain the escalation, adding that Qatar has sent an eighth message to António Guterres, Secretary-General of the United Nations, regarding the attacks on Gulf states.
He added that Iran is attacking Gulf countries without cause and must stop its assaults, stressing that those countries are not part of the conflict.
Since the outbreak of the US-Israeli war on Iran on February 28, Gulf countries, Jordan and other regional states have been targeted by Iranian missile and drone attacks, raising international concerns about a widening confrontation and potential threats to energy supplies and maritime navigation in strategic waterways.
