Cairo, Oct. 6 (SANA) Arab Parliament Speaker Mohammed bin Ahmed Al-Yamahi strongly condemned continued Israeli violations of Syrian territory, most recently, work related to the so-called “Sufa 53 Line” in Quneitra Province.
In a statement published Tuesday on the Arab Parliament’s website, Al-Yamahi said the Israeli practices constitute an assault on the sovereignty and territorial integrity of the Syrian Arab Republic and a violation of international law and international legitimacy resolutions.
He warned that continued Israeli incursions and military movements inside Syrian territory threaten stability in the region.
Al-Yamahi called on the international community and the UN Security Council to assume their responsibilities by obliging the Israeli occupation to respect the 1974 Disengagement of Forces Agreement and comply with relevant international resolutions.
He also urged serious and effective measures to prevent the violations from continuing and avert further escalation in the region.
Al-Yamahi reiterated the Arab Parliament’s full solidarity with Syria and its support for safeguarding Syria’s sovereignty, independence and territorial integrity.
Syria on Sunday strongly condemned the continued Israeli violations of its territory, most recently the completion of work on the so-called “Sufa 53 Line,” stressing that these violations constitute a flagrant breach of the 1974 Disengagement of Forces Agreement and a blatant violation of international legitimacy resolutions.
Syria called on the international community to take deterrent measures to put an end to such practices and prevent their recurrence, reaffirming its legitimate right to exercise full sovereignty over all its territory.
