Rabat, May 27 (SANA) Morocco produced a strong second-half display to defeat Burundi 5-0 in a closed-door international friendly at the Mohammed VI Complex in Rabat on Tuesday as preparations continue for the 2026 FIFA World Cup.
The match was played behind closed doors at the request of head coach Mohamed Ouahbi in order to maintain tactical focus and privacy within the squad ahead of the tournament.
After a goalless first half, Morocco opened the scoring in the 59th minute through Ayoub El Kaabi, who doubled the lead four minutes later as the hosts took control of the match.
Toufik Ben Taib added Morocco’s third goal in the 71st minute before Soufiane Benjdida scored twice late in the game in the 80th and 90th minutes to complete the rout.
Morocco will compete in Group C at the 2026 FIFA World Cup alongside Brazil, Scotland, and Haiti.
