Sanya Island, April 14 (SANA) The Syrian sports delegation has begun its final preparations for the 6th Asian Beach Games, scheduled to take place on Sanya Island in China from April 22 to 30.
After arriving in China, Syrian national teams started training Tuesday morning as part of their final preparations ahead of the competition.
The wrestling team launched its training camp and took part in a joint training session with several participating teams, which included friendly matches. Syria will compete in wrestling with Anas al-Khalidi, Mohammad al-Obeid, Khaled al-Rifai, and Anwar Sharqawi.
The ju-jitsu team also trained on the beach that will host the competitions. The team includes Tambi Omar, Ibrahim Sattas, and Nadia Assaf, while professional athlete Ibrahim Nseirat is expected to join the team on Sunday after arriving from Kuwait.
Meanwhile, the Syrian beach volleyball team trained on the official competition court in a joint session with the Lebanese national team. The men’s team includes Katiba al-Birini and Orwa al-Saqa, while the women’s team consists of Maggie al-Sheikh and Louisa Moussa.
The kabaddi team also held a preparatory training session with a squad that includes Lujain Ezzeddine, Laith al-Kharat, Samer Brakneh, Nour Ezzeddine, al-Muayyad Billah al-Qudsi, Louay Santahia, Mohammad Haitham al-Hallak, Roua al-Salhi, Sandra Obeid, Ghufran al-Turki, Mira Mallas, and Imad Moussa.
The aquathlon team continued its training program ahead of the official competitions with athletes Ihab Khlouf and Caesar Shomari.
Meanwhile, the swimming team is maintaining its training schedule, which began earlier in Damascus, with two daily sessions. Syria will compete in the 5 km open-water swimming event with swimmers Osama Trabulsi and Kenan Gharib.
