Riyadh, April 14 (SANA) Saudi Arabia’s Al-Ahli reached the quarterfinals of the AFC Champions League after defeating Qatar’s Al-Duhail 1-0 in extra time in the Round of 16 in Riyadh, central Saudi Arabia, on Monday.
The match ended goalless after regulation time, with both sides unable to break the deadlock despite several attempts.
The decisive moment came in the 117th minute when Algerian international Riyad Mahrez converted a direct free kick from just outside the penalty area, sending the ball into the net and securing a late victory for the defending champions.
