Beirut, 27 Feb. (SANA) The men’s national basketball team secured a 78–70 victory over Iraq on Friday in the second window of the FIBA World Cup Qualifiers, with the game taking place at the Nohad Nawfal Arena near Beirut.
Syria kept a narrow 35–33 lead at halftime before pulling away in the final minutes to secure the win.
The team recently completed a training camp in Beirut under coach Haitham Jamil, including two friendlies against Lebanese sides. Syria will face Iran on 2 March in its next qualifier.
