Latakia, Jan. 26 (SANA) The Latakia Equestrian Club is working to preserve pure Arabian horse bloodlines through officially documented stud books overseen by Syria’s Ministry of Agriculture.
The club maintains established strains including Saklawi, Hamdani and Kuhaylan, while also training horses for racing and show jumping competitions, officials said.
Eng. Firas al-Najm, head of the horse department at the Latakia Directorate of Agriculture, said the club plans to host two equestrian events in May and October to encourage wider participation in the sport.
Officials say continued institutional support and cooperation with breeders are key to protecting the longstanding heritage of Arabian horses. The club aims to ensure the preservation of authentic bloodlines while promoting equestrian sport in the region
