Damascus, Jan. 3 (SANA) Al-Wahda moved to the top of the Syrian Premier League standings after a convincing 3–0 win over Jableh in the third round of the competition on Saturday.
Zaid Gharid scored twice for al-Wahda, while Diaa al-Haq Mohammad added a third goal to seal the victory. The result lifted al-Wahda to seven points, level with al-Shorta but ahead on goal difference. Jableh dropped to 10th place with three points.
In another third-round match, al-Jaish edged al-Shouleh 1–0 at Panorama Stadium in Daraa. Ahmad Bakir scored the decisive goal to secure the win. Al-Jaish climbed to ninth place with four points, while al-Shouleh remain bottom of the table without a point.
The third round began earlier Thursday with Tishreen defeating Khan Sheikhoun 3–0 and Hutteen earning a 1–0 victory over Omaya.
Matches played on Friday saw Homs al-Fidaa beat al-Tali’ah 1–0, Ahli Aleppo claim a 5–2 win over Damascus Ahli, and al-Shorta secure a narrow 1–0 victory against al-Fotuwa.
