The United Arab Emirates national football team secured a vital 2-1 victory over Oman in a crucial match held in the Qatari capital, Doha, during the second round of Group A in the Asian qualifiers for the 2026 World Cup.
Oman opened the scoring early in the 12th minute with a goal from Ali Al Busaidi. However, Marcos Meloni equalized for the UAE in the 76th minute, and Caio Canedo sealed the win with a decisive goal in the 83rd minute.
With this result, the UAE earned three points, topping the group and keeping their World Cup qualification hopes alive. They now face hosts Qatar in their final group match. Oman remains with only one point, following their draw with Qatar in the opening round. Their chances of qualifying now appear slim
